Three former World Champions and a two-time ranking event winner make up a star-studded Group Four at the Champion of Champions in Coventry on Tuesday.

Day One of the elite invitational saw defending champion Shaun Murphy progress from Group One courtesy of a 6-3 victory over Ding Junhui in the decider, leaving three more places in the Semi-Finals up for grabs.

Ronnie O'Sullivan kicks off his quest for a third Champion of Champions crown with a clash against in-form Stuart Bingham in the opening group Semi-Final.

O'Sullivan boasts a superb record in this competition, reaching the final in all four of his previous appearances, going on to lift the trophy in 2013 and 2014 before finishing runner-up in 2016 and 2017.

The five-time World Champion, claimed the Shanghai Masters title in his first competitive appearance of the season before losing out to Mark Davis in the Semi-Finals of the English Open last month.

It was Bingham who went on to win the English Open and subsequently book his place in the Champion of Champions, securing his fifth ranking title in the first Home Nation Series event of the season.

Bingham is bidding to make it third time lucky against 'The Rocket' in Coventry, having lost the 2013 final 10-8 before suffering a 4-2 defeat in the Group Semi-Finals a year later.

The second Semi-Final sees Welsh Open champion John Higgins up against Gibraltar Open winner Ryan Day.

Higgins was beaten in the final of the World Championship in May for the second successive year and also finished runner-up in August's China Championship after an agonising 10-9 defeat to Mark Selby in the final.

The veteran Scot, who failed to qualify for the International Championship, admitted during the English Open that he has fallen out of love with the game but will look to get back to his best in Coventry this week.

Higgins was the man to end O'Sullivan's unbeaten record in this event in the 2016 final and he will look to set up another potential show-down with his 'Class of 92' rival here.

Day was a beaten group finalist on his Champion of Champions debut 12 months ago but has enjoyed a superb spell since, winning the Gibraltar Open and Romanian Masters in the space of a week back in March.

The Welshman is a three-time quarter-finalist this season and has climbed to 14 in the world rankings, having also reached the Semi-Finals of last year's UK Championship.

Day has won his last two meetings with Higgins - most recently a 6-5 triumph in the Last 16 of the Shanghai Masters, but the Scot has won 11 of their 17 encounters in total, including a 6-1 win in the Quarter-Finals of this year's Masters and a 10-3 rout in the First Round of the 2016 World Championship.

The action gets underway from 1pm GMT, with Group Semi-Finals contested over the best seven frames and the final best of 11.
