Mark Davis made the first maximum break of his career to secure victory in Group Three of the 2017 Championship League at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on Tuesday.
The Hastings cueist achieved the 127th 147 in tournament play during the deciding frame of his final showdown with Neil Robertson, as he joined David Gilbert and Anthony McGill in the Winners' Group after collecting a total of £6,800.
After finishing second in the table following the conclusion of the round-robin section, Davis edged out Ryan Day 3-2 in the semi-finals before taking the opening frame against Robertson.
However, the Australian hit back in style and demonstrated his trademark breakbuilding skills by crashing in a contribution of 103 to level.
Robertson, who enjoyed a 3-1 success over Barry Hawkins in the other semi, was really starting to click at the right moment, as runs of 73 and 66 saw him dominate the third frame and move to within one of victory at 2-1 up.
He threatened to wrap it up in the next after recovering from a 45-0 deficit, but a loose safety on the yellow allowed Davis to clear and force a decider, in which the 44-year-old enjoyed one of the best moments of his career to secure victory.
Earlier in the day, Mark Williams enjoyed another last-gasp survival by just two frames, while Ali Carter and Joe Perry were eliminated from the competition after finishing in the bottom two.
