Judd Trump begins his quest for a fourth Championship League title when he enters the action in Group Four at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on Wednesday.

The Ace is the only multiple winner in the history of this event having lifted the trophy in 2009, 2014 and 2016, and will be hopeful of adding to that tally in 2018.

While there is no ranking money at stake at the internet-streamed invitational event, Trump knows this will provide him with a good opportunity to build some form and momentum ahead of the Masters and what will be a busy second half of the 2017-18 season.

The world number three has already landed silverware during this campaign at the European Masters as well as reaching the Shanghai Masters final.

But the World Championship is the tournament the Bristolian will have his eyes firmly fixed on as he looks to finally etch his name onto the trophy.

Among the players joining him in Group Four is Shaun Murphy, who reached the 2011 final before losing to Matthew Stevens, as he aims to kick on after an impressive start to the season that brought victory at the Champion of Champions.

Liang Wenbo also enters the fray and will be looking to advance to the Winners’ Group for the first time.

Meanwhile, Mark Allen is among the four players returning from Group Three. The Pistol shall be aiming to go the extra step this time around, having topped the group before losing to Kyren Wilson in the final last time out.

Ali Carter, the 2013 runner-up, is looking to qualify for the Winners’ Group for the third time in four years, as is two-time semi-finalist Barry Hawkins who, along with Tom Ford, is out to kick on after reaching the Group Three Play-Offs.

Play gets underway at 11am GMT on Wednesday, with all matches being played over the best of five frames and each player facing each other once, before the top four advance to the semi-finals and, subsequently, the final on Thursday.

The victor will progress to the Winners’ Group of the 2018 Championship League at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
