Snooker's most prestigious invitational returns as the world's top 16 vie for Masters glory at Alexandra Palace, and you can follow all the latest results and fixtures here.

The top 16 players in the world rankings descend on the capital to battle it out for £600,000 in prize money in what promises to be an explosive start to the 2018 season.

An ever-present on the snooker calendar since 1975, the Masters has provided some of the most iconic moments in the sport's history and its 44th staging looks set to be as enthralling as ever.

Ronnie O'Sullivan returns as defending champion and the number one seed as he bids to to add to his record tally of seven Masters crowns, having defeated Joe Perry 10-7 in last year's final to eclipse Stephen Hendry's haul of six Masters triumphs.

World number one Mark Selby is on the hunt for a fourth Masters title, while John Higgins and Mark Williams have both lifted this trophy on two previous occasions.

Other former champions in this year's field including Shaun Murphy, winner here in 2015 and 2011 champion Ding Junhui.

Luca Brecel and Anthony McGill will make their Masters debuts, while Stuart Bingham's suspension means Liang Wenbo is handed a place in the line-up.

Neil Robertson is absent from the Masters roster for the first time since 2006, having dropped out of the world's top 16 at the cut-off prior to the Scottish Open.

As of 2017, the Masters trophy has been renamed in memory of Paul Hunter - the three-time Masters winner who tragically passed away aged 27 in 2006.

The tournament runs from January 14-21 at London's Alexandra Palace, with all matches up to and including the Semi-Finals contested over the best of 11 frames and the final best of 19.
