Ronnie O'Sullivan steps up his quest for a hat-trick of Masters titles with a tricky Quarter-Final clash against Mark Allen at Alexandra Palace on Thursday afternoon.

Red hot title favourite O'Sullivan launched his bid for an eighth Masters crown with an imperious 6-0 whitewash of Marco Fu on Tuesday and will be eager to pick up from where he left off.

The Rocket produced three centuries in the opening four frames on the way to a ruthless rout as he sent out an emphatic message to his title rivals on home soil in the capital.

Following his UK Championship triumph in York last month, the 42-year-old is one third of the way towards another Triple Crown and is looking to become the first player since Stephen Hendry in 1991 to win three consecutive Masters titles.

O'Sullivan now faces a player whom he is yet to defeat in a Triple Crown tournament - Antrim ace Allen - and will be poised for a high quality show-down.

Eighth seed Allen began his 2018 campaign with a 6-3 victory over Belgian debutant Luca Brecel to continue his impressive recent record at Ally Pally.

Allen has now reached at least the Quarter-Final stage in seven of his nine Masters appearances, and the two-time semi-finalist will be confident of breaking new ground this week.

Runner-up in the International Championship and semi-finalist at the World Open, 'The Pistol' is yet to make a real impact in a major tournament on UK soil so far this term but victory over the defending champion here could prove to be the perfect springboard.

O'Sullivan has won four of their six previous meetings, including a 6-2 victory in the Semi-Finals of the 2016 Champion of Champions, though Allen's wins have come in the 2009 World Championship and 2011 Masters.

Their latest show-down gets underway from 1pm GMT and will be contested over the best of 11 frames at the Alexandra Palace in London.

Either four-time World Champion John Higgins or Welsh ace Ryan Day will await the winner in Saturday's Semi-Finals.
