Live Snooker on Thursday: World Cup 2017 Day Four preview and order of play

Reigning champions China B and Wales will put their 100% records on the line when they face off at the 2017 Snooker World Cup on Thursday, while England could secure their place in the quarter-finals with victory over Pakistan at the Wuxi City Sports Park Stadium.

It promises to be a mouth-watering battle between the title holders and the Welsh – both of whom have enjoyed three wins from three so far in Group A.

However, one perfect record will disappear as Zhou Yuelong and Yan Bingtao lock horns with Mark Williams and Ryan Day, who made the tournament’s highest break of 140 on Wednesday.

Brazil will be aiming to maintain the pressure on the top two when they take on Norway, while Finland and Malaysia both require a heavy victory to remain in quarter-final contention.

There is another intriguing clash of the top two between unbeaten nations to look forward to in Group B, as China A’s Ding Junhui and Liang Wenbo put their record on the line against Luca Brecel’s Belgium.

With one nation guaranteed to drop frames, Hong Kong will be eager to capitalise when they face Egypt, but a 3-2 victory for either would cast the result between Germany and the Republic of Ireland into insignificance, as both would be eliminated.

The top two sides also collide in a closely fought Group D, as the unbeaten Northern Ireland duo of Mark Allen and Joe Swail do battle with a resurgent Scotland pairing of John Higgins and Anthony McGill.

At the same time, Thailand or India – both on eight points – could climb into the top two with a victory when they lock horns, while Cyprus and Israel are both in need of a heavy win to keep their faint quarter-final hopes alive.

Meanwhile, England’s Judd Trump and Barry Hawkins will qualify for the Last Eight with a match to spare providing they claim a 4-1 victory or better against a winless Pakistan.

Second-placed Australia’s Neil Robertson and Kurt Dunham shall be looking to maintain the pressure against Iran, who are also chasing the top two, as are Malta when they take on Switzerland.

Day four of the 2017 Snooker World Cup breaks off at 6am BST on Thursday, with all group stage matches contested over the best of five frames at the Wuxi City Sports Park Stadium.
