Luca Brecel produced an inspirational performance to aid Belgium’s commanding 4-1 victory over Hong Kong on the second day of the 2017 Snooker World Cup, while England and Australia also enjoyed dominant wins at the Wuxi City Sports Park Stadium on Tuesday.

The Bullet was on fire as the Belgians made it two wins from two in Wuxi with a surprisingly comfortable success against Marco Fu’s Hong Kong.

Brecel dominated the opening frame against Fu and cleared from brown to pink to ensure victory in the doubles, before a stunning break of 121 helped his nation secure a second consecutive 4-1 win.

England’s Judd Trump and Barry Hawkins also maintained their 100% start to the tournament – hitting a top break of 84 in a 4-1 triumph over Malta – as did Wales after Ryan Day made runs of 57 and 52 in the 3-2 win against Malaysia, while reigning champions China B edged past Norway by the same scoreline.

Meanwhile, China A needed a deciding frame against a stubborn Germany, who pegged them back on two occasions to force a decider, before Ding Junhui’s contribution of 71 eventually saw the hosts over the line.

Northern Ireland and Thailand also maintained their 100% starts in deciding frames against India and Israel respectively, as did Iran against Switzerland and Brazil against Finland.

Elsewhere, Republic of Ireland’s Ken Doherty and Fergal O’Brien survived a scare against Egypt, who twice led before being pegged back to a decider, with a break of 96 in the final frame getting their first win on the board.

Australia and Scotland also responded from losing starts with victory on Tuesday. The Australians – comprising of Neil Robertson and Kurt Dunham – were comfortable 4-1 winners over Pakistan, while John Higgins and Anthony McGill were narrow 3-2 victors against Cyprus.
