Ronnie O’Sullivan has withdrawn from the 2018 European Masters qualifiers for personal reasons.

The five-time World Champion was due to face Eden Sharav in the qualifying round in Preston on Friday.

Sharav now receives a bye into the main event – which takes place from October 1-7 in Lommel, Belgium.

O’Sullivan has not featured in a competitive tournament since his Second Round defeat to Ali Carter at the World Championship back in April.

The Rocket was leapfrogged into the world number two spot by Mark Williams after the Welshman claimed the World Open title last weekend.

O’Sullivan, winner of five ranking titles last season, is now set to make his first outing of the 2018/19 campaign at the Shanghai Masters from September 10-16.
