Judd Trump and Ronnie O’Sullivan go head to head in a mouth-watering Shanghai Masters final showdown at the Grand Stage on Saturday.

After 70 players arrived in Shanghai at the start of the week, just two of the game’s most exciting and naturally gifted players remain, and will battle it out for the trophy and top prize of £150,000.

This will be the sixth meeting between the two men in a final, with Trump coming out on top on three occasions including the most recent showdown in the 2016 European Masters showpiece.

The Ace has undoubtedly been the form player of the week in Shanghai, reeling off 22 frames without reply and inflicting four whitewashes along the way.

Trump’s only dropped frames came in his semi-final showdown with good friend Jack Lisowski, but it was enough to prevent him from securing a 6-3 victory.

The world number three, who is set to rise to second in the rankings after this week, is appearing in his fifth ranking event final of 2017 and third at the Shanghai Masters.

And having lost out in a deciding frame to John Higgins and Kyren Wilson in 2012 and 2015 respectively, Trump will be desperate to make it third-time lucky here.

However, standing in his way is a resurgent O’Sullivan, who is appearing in the final for the third time in his last four events.

The Rocket has dropped only six frames on the way to moving one win away from a 30th ranking title, which would put him second outright on the all-time list.

Back in the Shanghai showpiece for the first time since lifting the trophy in 2009, he will be eager to mark his return in the best way possible.

So, will the Rocket be firing on all cylinders on Saturday, or will Judd come up trumps when it matters the most?

The eagerly anticipated final gets underway with the first nine frames at 6am GMT, before a maximum of 10 will be played out from 11.30am when the 2017 Shanghai Masters champion shall be determined.
