Ronnie O’Sullivan withdraws from the Scottish Open

Ronnie O’Sullivan has withdrawn from the 2018 Scottish Open in Glasgow.

O’Sullivan, who claimed a record seventh UK Championship title on Sunday night, was due to take on Daniel Wells at the Emirates Arena on Tuesday afternoon.

The Rocket, however, has opted to pull out of the season's third Home Nation Series event, meaning Wells will now receive a bye into the Second Round.

No reasoning has been cited for O'Sullivan's withdrawal, though he has been openly critical of tournament scheduling in recent weeks, particularly towards World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn.

It is also unclear as to whether O'Sullivan will be involved in a punditry role with host broadcasters Eurosport during the week.
