Judd Trump recorded an emphatic 6-0 whitewash of Jimmy Robertson to confirm a Quarter-Final clash at the 2019 Players Championship with Jack Lisowski - who dispatched Kyren Wilson.

Trump, a three-time tournament winner this season, launched his bid to regain this prestigious title with a ruthless rout of Robertson, compiling three centuries along the way.

The reigning Masters and Coral World Grand Prix champion needed an average shot time of just 18.2 seconds as he swept aside this season's European Masters winner.

Trump set his stall out in style with a break of 105 before doubling his lead thanks to a break of 71.

He then followed up a half century with a majestic 104, and after clinching a low-scoring fifth frame, completed the whitewash with a stunning break of 115.

Trump will now face his former flatmate and regular practice partner Lisowski on Wednesday evening after the Riga Masters runner-up closed out a 6-4 win over seventh seed Wilson.

Wilson drew first blood with a 51 break, before Lisowski replied with 50 and 65 to take the lead, though the German Masters winner dominated frame four to level.

Lisowski then reeled off three consecutive frames with high breaks of 121 and 59 in the process, but only for Wilson to hit back with two in a row, including an 83 break, to apply the pressure.

Lisowski, though, averted the need for a decider with a free-flowing break of 110 to complete the victory.

The afternoon session saw reigning World Champion Mark Williams return to form with a commanding 6-2 defeat of World Grand Prix finalist Ali Carter.

Williams, who is chasing down the world number one spot, fired in back-to-back centuries on his way to a heavy-scoring win at the Preston Guild Hall.

The opening two frames were shared before Williams turned on the style with breaks of 118 and 131 to pull clear.

Carter took frame five, but Welsh ace Williams hit back with consecutive breaks of 51, 70 and 79 to seal the deal.

He will now face newly-crowned Welsh Open champion Neil Robertson in the Quarter-Finals after the Cambridge-based Aussie defeated his regular practice partner Joe Perry 6-3.

Robertson produced a fine all-round display which included top breaks of 80, 107 and 101 as he continued his dominant head-to-head record against the 2015 Players Champion.
