World Champion Bingham takes on Nottingham's Anthony Hamilton looking to pick up from where he left off on in the opening round.

'Ballrun', who also reached the semi-finals here last year, has struggled for form so far this season, but looked to be in very good shape as he made two centuries on his way to sweeping past Jordan Brown 6-1 on Thursday.

He will fancy his chances of getting the job done against world number 68 Hamilton, whose 6-4 first-round victory over Peter Lines was just the third match he has won this campaign.

Having also enjoyed a fairly straightforward 6-1 success over Leo Fernandez on Wednesday, Higgins will be keen to build on that against China's Tian Pengfei.

The three-time UK champion, who has already won the Australian Open and International Championship this season, will face a tough test against the Ruhr Open finalist, who progressed to the second round after beating Ian Burns by the same scoreline.

He has won each of the past two meetings, though, with the most recent coming in the 2009 China Open.

2008 winner Murphy is another player aiming to continue his momentum, after a comprehensive 6-1 triumph over Melbourne's Ashley Hugill set up today's clash with Zhou Yuelong.

'The Magician' is favourite to progress beyond the world number 62, but will not be too overconfident about his chances.

Having been shocked by Zhou's World Cup-winning partner Yan Bingtao at the recent Champion of Champions, he knows that the 17-year-old poses just as great a threat after knocking out Bingham in the same event.

Four other top-16 players also feature on Saturday including two-time semi-finalists Ricky Walden and Joe Perry, who respectively take on Li Hang and Robbie Williams.

Marco Fu, who reached the final here in 2008, is up against Yu De Lu, while two-time champion Mark Williams faces Riga Open runner-up Tom Ford.

Meanwhile, world number 20 Mark Davis and three-time finalist Ken Doherty go head to head following comprehensive victories over Rhys Clark and Tony Drago on Wednesday.

The pair last met in the final qualifying round of this year's World Championship where Davis, who reached the semi-finals here in 2012, ran out a comfortable 10-3 winner.

Elsewhere, Sheffield amateur Adam Duffy's reward for stunning Ding Junhui is a clash with veteran Joe Swail, who whitewashed Joel Walker 6-0 in the opening round.

Shanghai Masters champion Kyren Wilson is in action against Redcar's Mike Dunn, while International Championship finalist David Gilbert plays Gerard Greene and China Open runner-up Gary Wilson faces Martin Gould.

After knocking out 2004 semi-finalist Mark King, Ross Muir looks to topple Welsh Open runner-up Ben Woollaston while an all-Scottish clash sees Jamie Burnett and Alan McManus lock horns.

The day's other two matches see former World Champion Graeme Dott take on emerging star Jack Lisowski and China's Liang Wenbo up against Jimmy Robertson.

The action gets underway at 1pm GMT, with all matches to be contested over the best of 11 frames at the York Barbican Centre.
