Second Round action takes centre stage at the 2018 World Open on Wednesday as seven of the world’s top ten players vie to keep their title quest on track.

The majority of top-ranked stars have safely made it through their opening fixtures in Yushan and will now look to kick on towards the business end of the £700,000 ranking event.

Arguably the pick of Wednesday's ties sees two-time World Open champion Mark Allen take on in-form Jack Lisowski - runner-up in last month's Riga Masters.

Reigning Masters champion Allen thrashed Lyu Haotian 5-1 in his opener on Tuesday and will be wary of the threat posed by Lisowski - who continued his promising start to the season by whitewashing Chris Wakelin in less than an hour on Day One.

World number one Mark Selby steps up his title pursuit with a clash against Welsh ace Jamie Jones in the first session of the day.

Selby dug deep to prevail from a four-and-a-half-hour battle with Elliot Slessor in Round One and now looks to record a third straight win over the world number 39.

Ton machine Neil Robertson aims to add to his impressive tally of nine century breaks already this season when he faces multiple ranking event winner Ricky Walden.

Riga Masters champion Robertson has produced a brace of tons in each of his two matches so far this week, including a tournament-high 132 in his 5-1 win over Andy Lee on Tuesday, while Walden began with a 5-3 defeat of Dominic Dale.

World Champion Mark Williams is faced with a tricky test from Ben Woollaston as he aims to make it back-to-back wins over the Leicester cueist this season, following on from a 4-2 victory in Round One of the Riga Masters.

World number five Judd Trump began in impressive fashion by thrashing Martin O'Donnell 5-1 and will be out to maintain that clinical form when he meets former China Open finalist Gary Wilson.

Ali Carter, the 2016 World Open winner, faces Tamworth's David Gilbert, while Ryan Day continues his quest to regain a spot in the world's top 16 as he takes on Thailand's Noppon Saengkham.

Masters finalist and last year's World Open runner-up Kyren Wilson hosts debutant Harvey Chandler - who pulled off a last-frame scalp of Kurt Maflin in his opener.

Defending champion and father-to-be Ding Junhui looks to delight an expectant home crowd by overcoming quick-fire cueman Robert Milkins.

Hong Kong's Marco Fu saw off Peter Ebdon in Round One and now bids to continue his resurgent form by denying comeback king Andrew Higginson - who recovered from 4-1 down to defeat James Cahill 5-4 in his opener.

Former world finalist Barry Hawkins faces a tough clash with seasoned campaigner Michael Holt, while world number 16 and 20 collide in another tasty tie as Stephen Maguire meets Joe Perry.

Teenage prodigy Yan Bingtao looks to end the hopes of Matthew Selt, while another home hopeful Xiao Guodong comes up against in-form youngster Jak Jones and former China Championship winner Luca Brecel plays Irish veteran Fergal O'Brien.

The action gets underway from 7.30am BST, with all matches to be contested over the best of nine frames.
