Ding Junhui and Liang Wenbo lock horns in a mouth-watering all-Chinese second-round clash at the 2017 World Championship on Friday, while Stuart Bingham and Kyren Wilson resume their battle for the first Quarter-Final place at The Crucible.

After beating fellow countryman Zhou Yuelong 10-5 in round one, last year’s finalist Ding continues his quest to go the extra step 12 months on against another of his compatriots in Liang, who is appearing at this stage for the first time since 2008.

The English Open winner recovered from 5-2 down to see off Stuart Carrington 10-7 on Tuesday, but will need to be a lot quicker out of the blocks against the world number four over their first couple of sessions on day seven.

Meanwhile, John Higgins and Mark Allen also commence their second-round showdown in what will be the fifth meeting between the players this season.

Four-time champion Higgins overcame Martin Gould 10-6 at the first hurdle while Allen was a narrow 10-8 winner against Jimmy Robertson, and both men will be aiming to make it third time lucky having shared the other four contests this term.

Elsewhere, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Shaun Murphy resume their showdown with the Rocket 6-2 to the good.

O’Sullivan looked solid on Thursday with breaks of 91, 75, 128, 76 and 74 to put him in a strong position for a third consecutive victory over the Magician at the Crucible.

The other match on display will provide the first player to progress to the quarter-finals, with Bingham and Wilson battling it out over their final two sessions.

World number 14 Wilson surged into a 5-0 lead on Thursday, but 2015 champion Bingham responding by winning the next three frames to leave the match finely poised ahead of its conclusion.

All second-round matches will be contested over the best of 25 frames, with the winners advancing to the Last Eight of the 2017 World Championship.

Day seven gets underway from 10am BST at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
