Ronnie O'Sullivan admits he would jump at the chance to follow in the footsteps of fellow snooker legends Jimmy White and Steve Davis by becoming a contestant on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

O'Sullivan, who celebrated his 42nd birthday on Tuesday, has increased his media profile off the table over the past 12 months and is now eyeing a trip Down Under in 2018.

The five-time World Champion is a keen follower of the ITV reality show and admitted: "I'd do anything now, I'm up for the craic.

"Let's have a bit of the jungle!

"I'm going to get trained for it, I need to get used to snakes before I go in there.

"They'll think I'm a gorilla though when I take my t-shirt off!" he joked.

O'Sullivan, who balances his playing career with a punditry role for Eurosport, has also written two novels and hosted an 'American Hustle' show earlier this year which saw him travel the US and try his hand at 9-ball Pool.

The Rocket has reiterated his desire to explore new avenues away from snooker as he enters the twilight of his career, but maintains he still has the desire to add to his tally of 30 ranking titles.

"I want to do as much away from snooker as I can but obviously I also want to keep playing snooker and doing myself justice," he added.

"I used to think I had to be a pure snooker player but you get to the stage where you think 'this is painful' or 'that's a good laugh' and everything I do away from snooker is great.

"As long as I'm in the top 64, being number one, four or 64, it doesn't matter anymore."

Six-time world finalist White finished third in the 2009 series of I'm A Celebrity, while six-time World Champion Davis lasted 18 days in the Australian jungle in 2013.

If O'Sullivan was to feature in next year's series, it would mean he would miss the Betway UK Championship in York.
