The opening round draws to a close in the morning session in Barnsley, before the second round action commences in the afternoon.

Six-time World finalist Jimmy White produced the stand-out performance of day one as he overcame emerging talent Oliver Lines, and 'The Whirlwind' aims to roll back the years once again as he meets another promising youngster.

White's next test comes in the form of Jack Lisowski - a former Crucible qualifier and practice partner of Judd Trump aiming to recapture the fine form he showcased in 2012.

Another former World Championship finalist - Nigel Bond - faces a tricky tie against Nuneaton's Chris Wakelin - who reached the Quarter-Finals of this year's Indian Open.

1997 Crucible king Ken Doherty opens up with a clash against former 8-ball pool world number one - Chris Melling.

Irish ace Doherty enjoyed a fine scalp of world number one Mark Selby in last weekend's Riga Open and looks to pick up from where he left off in Latvia.

Melling has endured an indifferent start to life as a snooker professional since winning his Tour Card in 2014, but is looking to book his place in a third major ranking tournament on Chinese soil.

A flurry of this year's Crucible qualifiers also take to the baize in the afternoon session, including Finland's Robin Hull up against young gun Liam Highfield - who enjoyed a 5-0 whitewash win in his opener on Wednesday.

Craig Steadman battled through a last-frame decider on Wednesday and has now been handed a tie with former China Open semi-finalist Mike Dunn, while Grimsby's Stuart Carrington meets Chinese star Zhang Anda.

Tom Ford, who enjoyed a superb run to the recent Riga Open final, before losing out to Barry Hawkins, returns to action as he takes on veteran Allan Taylor.

Gloucester ace Michael Wasley meets 2007 Welsh Open runner-up Andrew Higginson, while box office character Dechawat Poomjaeng meets Scotland's Ross Muir - who put out Tony Drago in round one.

Northern Irish ace Joe Swail takes on fellow journeyman Paul Davison, while Iran's Hossein Ayouri meets 'The Sheriff of Pottingham' - Anthony Hamilton.

The action gets underway at 10am BST, with all matches to be contested over the best of nine frames from the Barnsley Metrodome.
