The qualifying stage of the 2017 Shanghai Masters draws to a close on Friday as a host of big names aim to secure their place in November's prestigious main event.

The Shanghai Masters has been a permanent annual fixture on the snooker calendar since 2007, with nine different players having lifted the trophy in its ten stagings.

With the likes of Kyren Wilson and Shaun Murphy having already crashed out of the competition, the remaining big names will be out to avoid suffering a similar fate.

Ronnie O'Sullivan, the 2009 Shanghai champion, headlines Friday's action as he takes on young hopeful Christopher Keogan in the afternoon session.

O'Sullivan recently qualified for the International Championship and is aiming to book a third trip to China this season by brushing aside the world number 103 - who has failed to win a match since the Riga Masters back in June.

Judd Trump makes a swift return to action following his European Masters triumph last weekend as he takes on Northern Ireland veteran Joe Swail.

With a first ranking title of the season under his belt, Trump will be brimming with confidence heading in to this clash as he bids to end the hopes of the two-time Crucible semi-finalist.

Stuart Bingham, the 2014 champion, looks to seal his Shanghai return by defeating emerging German star Lukas Kleckers in the morning session.

Another former World Champion Peter Ebdon is in action as he takes on in-form Cao Yupeng - who enjoyed a superb run to his first ranking Semi-Final at the European Masters in Belgium last week.

Mark Williams, Shanghai Masters runner-up in 2011, comes up against Chinese newcomer Niu Zhuang, while 2015 International Championship runner-up David Gilbert takes on Malta's Alex Borg.

Masters finalist Joe Perry meets Coventry's Liam Highfield, as 2010 World Champion Neil Robertson faces underdog Chris Totten.

Indian Open runner-up Anthony McGill has been drawn to face resurgent Welshman Lee Walker, while McGill's frequent practice partner Alan McManus plays Hammad Miah.

Zhou Yuelong bids to avenge his 5-0 whitewash at the hands of Scott Donaldson in February's Welsh Open Quarter-Finals when the two young talents lock horns in the opening session.

Nuneaton cueist Chris Wakelin faces Thailand's most succesful snooker star James Wattana, while methodical Irishman Fergal O'Brien meets Welsh young gun Duane Jones.

Multiple ranking semi-finalist Mark Davis hopes to kick-start a long-awaited return to form by fending off the challenge of Scotland's Ross Muir.

The action gets underway from 10am BST, with all matches to be contested over the best of nine frames at Robin Park Sports Centre in Wigan.
