Peter Ebdon, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh and Yan Bingtao were among the first players to book their place in the Second Round of World Championship qualifying on Wednesday, as Joe O'Connor confirmed Joe Swail's relegation from the tour.

Former World Champion Ebdon, bidding to secure his 25th Crucible appearance, powered past young gun Harvey Chandler 10-4 with an average shot time of 30 seconds.

Thailand's Un-Nooh began his quest for back-to-back appearances in snooker's show-piece by thrashing World Seniors number one Johnathan Bagley 10-4 with a top break of 107.

European Masters champion Jimmy Robertson pulled off a ruthless 10-0 whitewash of Chen Feilong to kick-start his pursuit of a fifth Betfred World Championship appearance.

Bingtao, a former Northern Ireland Open runner-up, safely saw off Germany's Lukas Kleckers 10-3 to set up a Second Round meeting with Chinese compatriot Mei Xiwen - who brushed aside Austria's Florian Nuessle by the same scoreline.

Welsh Open semi-finalist O'Connor continued his rapid rise with a 10-1 rout of two-time Crucible semi-finalist Swail, firing in high breaks of 124 and 122 along the way.

That result means 49-year-old Swail becomes the first player to be relegated from the main tour.

Eight-time qualifier Michael Holt was a comfortable 10-5 winner over Brandon Sargeant with a high break of 136, as Mark Joyce powered past Billy Joe Castle 10-2.

Former Shanghai Masters finalist Xiao Guodong reeled off six of the last seven frames to deny Welshman Jak Jones 10-5 with breaks of 133 and 119 in the process.

Championship League winner Martin Gould requires just one more frame to complete an emphatic 10-0 whitewash of African qualifier Mostafa Dorgham on Thursday, while emerging star Zhao Xintong is just two frames away from dispatching amateur newcomer Adam Lilley.

Indian Open champion Matthew Selt came through a tricky opening session 6-3 up on Welsh youngster Dylan Emery, while James Cahill produced a remarkable showing which included three centuries as he stormed 7-2 ahead of Andrew Higginson.

Former German Masters champion Anthony Hamilton and former world number three James Wattana could have some way to go in their contest, with Hamilton leading just 5-2.
