Three players have been suspended from professional snooker with immediate effect over allegations of match-fixing.

Cao Yupeng, Yu Delu and David John all have a "case to answer" in front of the WPBSA after being investigated on suspicion of deliberately manipulating the outcome of matches.

Cao, runner-up in the Scottish Open and Gibraltar Open last season, has been accused of corruption in three matches in 2016 and has failed to fully cooperate with the WPBSA enquiry.

Delu, a former Scottish Open semi-finalist, is being investigated over five matches he was involved in since 2015, failing to report two approaches to fix a match, betting on snooker and failing to fully cooperate with the WPBSA enquiry.

Welsh cueist John, who dropped off the main tour last season, is suspected of manipulating the outcome of matches he was involved in since 2016 and hs also failed to fully cooperate with the enquiry.

The suspensions will remain in place until the outcome of their hearings, which will take place at a venue and date to be confirmed.

All three players have the right to appeal against the decision.

A statement from WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson read: "The decision to suspend a player with immediate effect is never taken lightly, however considering the seriousness of the alleged rule breaches in this case, I have no choice but to ensure that the long-term integrity of the sport is securely protected."

"The WPBSA has a duty of care to ensure that snooker’s global integrity is securely preserved, therefore my decision today is to remove any question marks over the sport during the time it takes to bring these matters to formal proceedings."
