The Gibraltar Open is a professional snooker tournament held at the Tercentenary Sports Hall and will be the 16th ranking event of the 2016/17 season.
Held at the Big Rock and following a successful first staging in December 2015, the event was one of three to remain and become major ranking tournaments following the conclusion of the Players Tour Championship at the end of last season.
Just like in the old PTC format, the event will see 128 players enter at the first hurdle with the opening four rounds being contested over the best of seven frames.
However, five and six frames will then be the target in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively, while the best of 17 frames will determine who claims the title in the final.
There will be a new name on the trophy in 2017 as defending champion Marco Fu, who beat Michael White 4-1 in the inaugural final, opted not to enter this time around.
The tournament will run from March 3-5 with just over £100,000 worth of prize money on offer over three days.
