Ronnie O’Sullivan has revealed he rejected an offer to appear in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in order to compete at the UK Championship.

O’Sullivan has previously expressed his interest in appearing in the ITV reality show, which sees a group of celebrities descend on the Australian jungle and partake in gruesome challenges.

Jimmy White finished third on his appearance in 2009, while Steve Davis finished fifth after his stint in the jungle in 2013.

O’Sullivan, who has branched out into novel writing, cookery and hosting his own TV show in recent years, says he would be open to appearing on the show in the near future if he can fit it around his playing schedule.

“I was invited this year but I decided to put it on the back-burner,” revealed The Rocket.

“Maybe they can move this tournament? I’ll come flying in like Tarzan from Australia to York with my thong on.

“I’m sure in time I’ll give it a go.

“It was never about the money or I would have gone into the jungle. I would really like to do it but (not) when you think you can still win tournaments. It was about snooker first.”

O’Sullivan thrashed Jack Lisowski 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon to reach the Quarter-Finals and mark his 43rd birthday in style.

He added: “I’ll go for a nice meal tonight and watch a bit of the jungle. Harry Redknapp and John Barrowman are nice, but I really like Anne Hegerty – she really seems to have gained some confidence.”
