The world’s top cueists head to The Crucible for the 2020 World Snooker Championship, and all matches are available to watch live online.
The annual snooker show-piece features the world’s top 16 ranked players alongside a further 16 qualifiers as they battle it out for £2.4 million in prize money from July 31 to August 16.
A host of decorated stars and exciting emerging talents lock horns at the sport’s spiritual home in the rescheduled event, which was initially due to take place in April/May.
A limited capacity crowd will be present inside the iconic venue, making it one of the first sporting events to welcome back spectators in the UK since the imposed Covid-19 restrictions.
Judd Trump returns to Sheffield as the defending champion as he aims to break the infamous ‘Crucible curse’ and become the first new champion ever successfully retain the trophy at this venue.
Trump is one of eight previous winners in this year’s field, including five-time champion Ronnie O’Sullivan, four-time champion John Higgins and three-time champions Mark Selby and Mark Williams.
China’s Yan Bingtao is seeded for the first time, while Mark Allen is the number four seed and Tour Championship winner Stephen Maguire is seeded number nine.
Five players will grace the hallowed Crucible carpet for the first time, including Switzerland’s Alexander Ursenbacher and Northern Ireland’s Jordan Brown.
World number 89 Jamie Clarke is the lowest-ranked qualifier, while Tyneside’s Elliot Slessor and Doncaster’s Ashley Carty also came through the qualifying rounds to seal a dream debut.
Anthony Hamilton is making his first World Championship appearance for 12 years, while Mark King has ended a seven-year wait for a place at The Crucible.
All matches across the 17 days are to be streamed live online in the UK and various other regions.
