The road to The Crucible commences as 128 players bid to secure their spot in the World Snooker Championship, and you can follow the latest results and fixtures here.

Sixteen coveted places are up for grabs in the £2.4 million main event alongside the top 16 seeded players from the main Order of Merit.

Qualifying will take place from July 21-28 at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, a stone’s throw from The Crucible, with players required to win a selected number of matches according to their ranking position in order to secure their qualification.

The field is comprised of 94 tour players and 34 amateurs who have achieved success through the WPBSA qualifying criteria.

More than 15 players have withdrawn from the qualifiers due to ether travel or visa issues and have been replaced by the eight players competing in the Challenge Tour Play-Off event.

World number 17 Joe Perry will be the highest ranked player involved in the qualifiers and will be joined by the likes Ali Carter, Gary Wilson, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh, Graeme Dott and Luca Brecel.

Twelve-time Women’s World Champion Reanne Evans will return to the qualifiers, as will six-time world finalist Jimmy White and 1997 World Champion Ken Doherty.

A condensed format this year means that matches from Rounds One to Three are to be contested over the best of 11 frames in a single session.

Fourth Round ties are to be contested over the best of 19 frames, split across two sessions, with the first session session comprised of a maximum of nine frames.
