Judd Trump v Neil Robertson live stream | Champion of Champions 2024 preview
Judd Trump and Neil Robertson go head to head in a mouth-watering Group Two final at the Champion of Champions on Wednesday.
Two of snooker’s most decorated left-handers – and former winners of this event – do battle over the best of 11 frames for a place in the semi-finals at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in Bolton.
The pair famously met in a high-quality 2019 Champion of Champions final that produced eight centuries and a further six breaks over 60, with Robertson compiling a superb 137 total clearance in the decider to clinch the second of his two titles (also triumphing in 2015).
However, the head-to-head has been fairly one-sided since. Though the Australian also prevailed 10-9 in the following year’s UK Championship showpiece, it represents his only victory in the last seven meetings between the players (including the Championship League).
Trump was a 6-3 winner when the players met at this stage of the inaugural Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters in September, before going on to claim his second silverware of the season in Riyadh – adding to his Shanghai Masters triumph.
The 2021 champion, who has reached the last three Champion of Champions finals, enjoyed a commanding 4-0 victory over Ding Junhui in his group semi-final, hitting breaks of 127, 65 and 62 along the way.
An ever-present since the tournament returned to the WST calendar in 2013, the Ace now bids to reach the semi-finals for a sixth successive year.
Robertson, meanwhile, is back after missing out last year, sealing his return with victory at the English Open in September.
The Thunder endured a much less straightforward route to the group final. Indeed, he led 3-1 against Ali Carter and was 62-0 to the good in frame six, before missing match-ball pink to the right centre.
The Captain subsequently clawed his way back and knocked in a long black to force a decider, but Robertson maintained his composure with a timely 87 sealing his third victory over Carter in as many Champion of Champions meetings.
Another left-hander in Group Three winner Mark Williams awaits the victor from this eagerly anticipated contest in Bolton.
Play gets under way at 7pm GMT on Wednesday, and will be contested over the best of 11 frames at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.
