Mark Selby launches his latest quest for a maiden Champion of Champions title when he faces debutant Lee Walker on Monday.

The four-time World champion headlines Group Four as he gets things underway in this year’s edition of the popular invitational event at the Bolton Whites Hotel.

Nevertheless, the world number four arrives in Bolton with momentum following runs to the quarter-finals at the British Open and Northern Ireland Open, while he produced a magical maximum break at the former.

And he will be the favourite to overcome World Seniors champion Walker, who is set for his maiden Champion of Champions appearance and what could be his professional swansong.

Having fallen off the tour at the end of last season, the Welshman recently revealed he will now turn his attentions to coaching after a combined 21 years as a professional.

Therefore, the 46-year-old will be eager to bow out in style and proved his ability to produce on the big stage in May, when he enjoyed his finest hour by overturning deficits to defeat Ken Doherty, David Lilley and Jimmy White to claim the World Seniors crown.

The winner of this match will play either John Higgins or Hossein Vafaei in the Group Four final later on Monday.

Play gets underway at 1pm GMT with the match contested over the best of seven frames at the Bolton Whites Hotel.
