Judd Trump and Barry Hawkins renew their rivalry when they face off in the Champion of Champions semi-finals on Friday.
This will already be the fourth meeting between the left-handers this season, in which they are two of the in-form players.
Hawkins beat Trump 9-6 to land the European Masters crown, but the Ace overcame the Hawk on his way to winning the Wuhan Open and Northern Ireland Open.
The latter meeting was also at the semi-final stage with Trump, who also triumphed at the English Open last month, recovering from 3-0 down to prevail a 6-4 winner.
The world number two has built on that momentum in Bolton, beating World Women’s champion Baipat Siripaporn and Shaun Murphy in Group 3 to reach his fifth successive Champion of Champions semi-final.
Trump, who lifted this trophy two years ago, overturned a 3-1 deficit against Murphy to win 6-4.
The highlight of his victory came in the seventh frame, when he produced a miraculous positional shot from the yellow to develop the final red from the side rail. That paved the way to a superb 56 clearance that snatched a 4-3 lead on the black.
Hawkins was also in brilliant form in Group 2, dropping just two frames on the way to his first appearance at this stage of the tournament.
Returning to the event after five-year absence, the Hawk certainly made up for lost time with two centuries in a 4-0 rout of reigning World champion Luca Brecel, before Robert Milkins was put to the sword 6-2 later on.
The winner of this match will play either Mark Allen or John Higgins in Sunday’s Champion of Champions final.
Play gets under way at 7pm GMT on Friday and will be contested over the best of 11 frames at the Bolton Whites Hotel.
