Masters memories: 10 years at the Ally Pally | Allen’s rest mishap
To celebrate the 10th staging of the Masters at Alexandra Palace, we’re looking back at some of the most memorable moments from snooker’s most prestigious invitational event in N22.
Here, we relive Mark Allen’s troubles with the rest from 2013.
The Pistol was making his fifth successive appearance at the Masters, and aiming to avoid back-to-back first-round exits.
Meanwhile, opponent Mark Davis had not appeared in the event for 10 years – and this was his first time as a seeded player.
Allen would go on to prevail 6-2 in the battle of the Marks, but the match will be remembered for one incident in particular.
Stretching almost the full length of the table to pot a red while using extensions on the cue and rest, Allen was balancing on one foot and also needed to quickly move away after playing the shot to avoid committing a foul.
What could possibly go wrong…?
