Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump go head to head in a blockbuster semi-final showdown at the Shanghai Masters on Saturday.

Snooker’s two biggest stars lock horns at Shanghai Indoor Stadium for the right to face Shaun Murphy in this year’s showpiece.

O’Sullivan has won each of the last five meetings between the players, most recently a 4-1 triumph at this stage of the inaugural Saudi World Masters in March.

The Rocket resumes his quest for a record-extending sixth Shanghai Masters title – and fifth on the spin – following victories over Zhou Jinhao and Ding Junhui.

O’Sullivan has now won each of his last 21 matches in the event – and 20 in Shanghai – with his most recent defeat coming eight years ago against Michael Holt in the last 16.

Trump, meanwhile, has fallen at the final hurdle of this tournament on three separate occasions – including a commanding 10-3 defeat by the Rocket in the 2017 showpiece.

The Ace surrendered a 7-2 advantage to lose 10-9 against John Higgins in the 2012 final, while also suffering final-frame heartbreak against Kyren Wilson three years later.

Trump has compiled three centuries so far this week, in which he has recorded a pair of 6-2 wins over Mark Williams and Si Jiahui – the latter in a repeat of last season’s German Masters final.

The match gets under way at 7am BST on Saturday with the opening nine frames, before playing to a conclusion from 12.30pm with a maximum of 10 at Shanghai Indoor Stadium.
