Mark Selby locks horns with Xiao Guodong on Saturday for the right to face Mark Williams in the British Open final at The Centaur.
The four-time World champion is hoping this will be the week he finally ends his wait for a maiden triumph in an ITV-televised tournament.
Selby is making his 61st appearance in a ranking event semi-final, and has demonstrated his trademark determination and tenacity in order to do so.
After beating Ben Woollaston, Tian Pengfei and Si Jiahui, the Jester came through two deciding-frame finishes against David Gilbert (who went in-off on the final black) and home favourite Jack Lisowski.
Standing in his way of a 34th ranking final is Xiao, who is appearing in the last four of a ranking event for the first time since the 2020 Gibraltar Open.
A former finalist at the Shanghai Masters and Shoot Out, the Chinese is hoping he can make it third time lucky and get his hands on silverware.
Xiao has been in brilliant form so far this week, defeating the likes of Ali Carter and Tom Ford, as well as Anthony Hamilton and Sanderson Lam.
The Chinese has won three of his previous eight meetings with Selby, who prevailed in their most recent encounter at the 2021 Scottish Open.
We can expect a closely fought contest here with a final showdown against Williams, who beat Hossein Vafaei 6-3 earlier in the day, on offer to the winner.
Play gets under way at 7pm BST on Saturday and will be contested over the best of 11 frames at The Centaur in Cheltenham.
