The China Open makes its long-awaited return to the WST calendar, and you can follow the latest results and schedule of play here.

A mainstay on the WST calendar between 2005 and 2019 before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament is back at the Riverside Sports Centre in Taiyuan between August 8 and 16.

The world’s top 16 players were seeded straight through to the main venue, where a top prize of £250,000 is up for grabs.

They are joined by a further 16 players, who progressed after four qualifying rounds in Leicester back in June.

Neil Robertson was the most recent champion seven years ago, beating Jack Lisowski 11-4 in the final for his second China Open crown.

He is joined by three-time winners Mark Selby and Mark Williams, though the latter suffered a first-round exit at the hands of Zhou Yuelong.

Another multiple champion fell at the first hurdle in Ding Junhui, with Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump the other players in the draw to have won this title more than once.

John Higgins also won this tournament in 1999 when it was entitled the China International.

Zhao Xintong and World champion Wu Yize are among the players looking to add their names to the roll of honour, along with Kyren Wilson and former finalist Shaun Murphy.

All matches up to and including the semi-finals are to be contested over the best of 11 frames, with the final the best of 19.
