Neil Robertson locks horns with Kyren Wilson in a mouth-watering last-16 clash at the German Masters on Thursday.

The players ranked seventh and 10th in the world respectively will headline the evening session at the Tempodrom in Berlin.

Both have enjoyed positive weeks as they desperately look to kickstart what have been disappointing seasons thus far.

They have endured a combined nine first-round exits and with Robertson set to lose the money he won during the back end of the 2021-22 season – in which he captured the Players Championship and Tour Championship – there is a strong possibility the Australian will have to qualify for this year’s World Championship.

Nevertheless, he has been a man on a mission in Berlin and underlined his desire to be more ruthless, dropping just two frames while seeing off Sanderson Lam, Jimmy Robertson and best friend Joe Perry.

And a good omen for Robertson, who was runner-up to Judd Trump here four years ago, is the fact he has gone on to win the tournament following three of his previous four victories over Wilson, which came at the 2020 World Grand Prix, 2021 English Open and 2022 Players Championship.

The Warrior has also dropped just two frames this week in his quest for a second German Masters title, defeating Ben Woollaston and David Lilley along the way.

The 2019 champion is now looking to reach his third successive quarter-final at this event, while it would also match his best performance of the season having also reached this stage at the European Masters.

If history is anything to go by, we can expect a closely fought contest here. The players have both won four of the eight previous meetings, five of which have been decided by two frames or less.

The winner of this match will play either Tom Ford or Fan Zhengyi in the German Masters quarter-finals.

Play gets under way at 7pm GMT on Thursday and will be contested over the best of nine frames at the Tempodrom in Berlin.
