Mark Allen: My Perfect Player – The Pistol reels off his head-to-toe picks
In a new and exclusive feature, we ask players to name who they believe to be the best fit for each part of the body from head to toe – thus, constructing the perfect Snooker player.
Next up, Players Championship winner Mark Allen gives his thoughts…
Who has the best HAIR?“Mark King – he has no hair which, in my opinion, is the best because he doesn’t have to do it in the morning – he can just fall out of bed!”
Who has the best Snooker BRAIN?“Mark Selby – all facets of his game are very, very good. Not many can match his determination and thought process into what he does.”
Who has the best PERSONALITY?“I’m going to be cocky and say me – I feel like I get on pretty well with everyone and the people I don’t get on with are those that aren’t well-liked, it’s just others won’t say! I feel like I’m pretty honest and outgoing.”
Who has the best TEMPERAMENT?“Shaun Murphy – he’s the ultimate professional on and off the table. He doesn’t let things get to him and he’s definitely someone to look up to if you’re trying to get into the game. Up until last week, I might have included Neil Robertson before his meltdown in China!”
Who has the best WAISTCOATS?“Me – I support my home country with the green of Northern Ireland. It might look pretty, but at least it’s got a bit of meaning.”
Who has the best RIGHT ARM?“Shaun Murphy – the way he cues the ball and generates so much spin with so little effort definitely makes him the best.”
Who has the best LEFT ARM?“Probably Neil Robertson – he cues the ball straight and as well as any left-hander’s ever done since Jimmy White.”
Who has the best CUE ACTION?“I’ll go with Neil Robertson – he’s pretty sound under pressure too, so many could follow him.”
Who has the best TROUSERS?“Alan McManus with the tartan ones he wore in the World Championship. A lot of people like myself just wear plain black, so it’s good to see him put a bit of thought into it.”
Who has the best SHOES?“I don’t really look too closely at many people’s shoes, but not Judd Trump – he’s quite high-profile with his shoes but I don’t like them.”
