Kyren Wilson and Ronnie O’Sullivan go head to head in a blockbuster quarter-final showdown at the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters on Thursday.

Two of the title favourites lock horns at the Green Halls in Jeddah, and while this contest will not determine the outcome of the tournament, whoever prevails here will certainly fancy their chances of going all the way.

Though a tough tie to call, it was one that has been dominated in recent times by Wilson, who has won each of the last six meetings between the players (including the Championship League).

They are meeting for the second time in as many tournaments, having also faced off at this stage in Shanghai, where the Warrior was a 6-3 victor on his way to lifting the trophy.

The world number two remains perfect this season with seven wins from seven. Yet, he survived a scare in the opening round of this event, recovering from 4-2 down to scrape past Iulian Boiko before a 6-3 victory over Si Jiahui.

O’Sullivan also appeared on the brink of elimination at 5-2 down against Chang Bingyu in the last 16 on Wednesday, but produced a superb fightback to deny the young Chinese player a quarter-final place.

It was stark contrast to the Rocket’s dominant 5-0 whitewash of the in-form Joe O’Connor in his opening match, during which he hit breaks of 116, 90 and 89.

With two of the world’s best players in fine fettle, fans should be a treated to a wonderful showdown at the Green Halls in Jeddah.

A meeting with either Barry Hawkins or Chris Wakelin awaits the winner of this clash in the semi-finals.

The match breaks off at 5.30pm BST on Thursday and will be contested over the best of 11 frames.
