Ronnie O’Sullivan v John Higgins live stream | Scottish Open Semi-Final preview
Ronnie O’Sullivan and John Higgins renew their box office rivalry in the Semi-Finals of the 2021 Scottish Open on Saturday.
The third televised meeting between the two ‘Class of 92’ stars in the space of a month sees O’Sullivan bidding to avenge back-to-back defeats at the hands of the Scot.
Both players are vying to win this title for the first time since the event became part of the Home Nations Series in 2016.
Higgins was runner-up that year, while O’Sullivan was thrashed 9-3 by Mark Selby in last year’s final.
Having reached the Semi-Finals of the English Open last month, O’Sullivan followed that up with a run to the Quarter-Finals of the UK Championship, losing out to Kyren Wilson in a last-frame decider.
The Rocket has once again made headlines off the table this week following his comments regarding the lack of prize money for First Round losers in events with a 128-player field, as well as discouraging children to take up snooker.
Those remarks were blasted by Higgins, who branded them “dreadful” and “a disgrace”.
On the table, O’Sullivan has come through three last-frame deciders this week, safely dispatching Dominic Dale and Michael Georgiou before narrowly denying Liang Wenbo, Jamie Jones and Li Hang.
Higgins, meanwhile, has charged into his third Semi-Final in his last four ranking event appearances and is looking to end a run of three consecutive final defeats.
The Wizard of Wishaw began by defeating Alfie Burden 4-1, before seeing off Noppon Saengkham 4-1 and Ryan Day 4-0.
Higgins then overcame Martin Gould 4-2 and David Gilbert 5-3 to remain in pursuit of a 32nd career ranking title.
Of the 70 meetings contested between these two titans of the baize dating back to 1994, O’Sullivan has prevailed on 35 occasions to Higgins’ 32, as well as three draws.
Their latest encounter gets under way from 1pm GMT at Venue Cymru in Llandudno and will be contested over the best of 11 frames.
Either Anthony McGill or Luca Brecel will await the winner in Sunday’s final.
