Ronnie O’Sullivan aims to continue his perfect record against Li Hang when they collide in the Scottish Open quarter-finals on Friday.

The Rocket has prevailed in each of the three previous meetings between the players.

Two of those have come in this Home Nations event, including a 6-4 victory in last year’s semi-finals.

O’Sullivan was subsequently beaten 9-3 in the showpiece by Mark Selby, and is looking to go one better 12 months on.

The Rocket has continued his strong record in the tournament this year, reaching his fifth quarter-final in as many appearances.

Although, it has been a contrasting run to the last eight. Having raced past Michael Georgiou in just 37 minutes, the six-time World champion required deciding frames before producing timely breaks to edge past Liang Wenbo and Jamie Jones.

Appearing in his fourth quarter-final in as many events, he will be hoping to be just three wins away from ending his 16-month wait for a 38th ranking title.

As for his opponent, this is Li’s second straight appearance in the last eight of the Scottish Open – and seventh at this stage of a ranking tournament.

The world number 51 has demonstrated his credentials by defeating Shaun Murphy earlier this week, and would love to claim the scalp of another World champion here.

The winner will take on either John Higgins or David Gilbert in Saturday’s Semi-Finals.

The match gets underway from approximately 3pm GMT on Friday and will be contested over the best of nine frames at Venue Cymru in Llandudno.
