Judd Trump looks to improve his poor recent Tour Championship record against the returning Mark Allen in the opening round on Monday.
The 2026 edition of the exclusive 12-man event launches at the Manchester Central with a battle between two of the best left-handers in the game.
This will be the third meeting between the players this season, with Trump having prevailed in their clashes in the Northern Ireland Open semi-finals and Masters quarter-finals.
Trump, who went the whole of 2025 without lifting a trophy, ended his silverware drought at the German Masters last month in Berlin, where he triumphed for a record-breaking fourth time.
The world number one is building momentum heading into the season’s climax, having reached a further three semi-finals in the five tournaments he has played in 2026.
Yet, his Tour Championship record is generally modest. A semi-finalist in the first two editions, he has since lost each of his last four matches at the event, and will be desperate to end that barren streak here.
Allen, meanwhile, is back at the tournament where he was runner-up to Stephen Maguire in 2020, after failing to qualify 12 months ago.
The Pistol has also reached a further two Tour Championship semi-finals, while losing to the eventual champion twice in his last three appearances (Neil Robertson in 2022 and Mark Williams in 2024).
English Open champion Allen has also been to an additional five semi-finals this season, including the Players Championship, while he was a quarter-finalist at the World Open last time out.
The winner of this mouth-watering best-of-19 showdown on Monday will play 2023 champion Shaun Murphy in the quarter-finals.
The match breaks off at 1pm BST with the opening eight frames, before playing to a conclusion from 7pm at the Manchester Central.
