Decorated left-handers Neil Robertson and Mark Allen will face off in the Tour Championship for the second time on Tuesday.

Robertson prevailed 10-6 in the Semi-Finals of the inaugural Tour Championship three years ago and was eventually denied by Ronnie O’Sullivan in the final.

The Australian ace, however, went one better in Newport 12 months ago as he avenged that defeat to ‘The Rocket’ with a crushing 10-4 triumph in the final.

Robertson returns to Llandudno as the number two seed, having enjoyed another prolific season of success which has seen him claim the English Open, Players Championship and Masters titles.

The world number four, who celebrated his 40th birthday last month, withdrew from the Turkish Masters and suffered a Fourth Round exit in Gibraltar last week, but will be determined to bounce back to top form with the World Championship on the horizon.

Allen, meanwhile, picked up the Northern Ireland Open title on home soil last October and has also reached the Semi-Finals of the German Masters.

The world number 11 was runner-up to Stephen Maguire in the 2020 Tour Championship – the same year he went on to defeat Robertson 10-6 in the final of the Champion of Champions in a thrilling contest which featured seven century breaks.

Allen agonisingly missed out on the £150,000 BetVictor Series bonus last week by virtue of the countback rule after tying with John Higgins at the top of the ranking list.

Of their 19 previous meetings, Robertson has won 11 to Allen’s eight, though ‘The Pistol’ has come out on top on five of the last six occasions.

The match gets under way from 1pm BST for a maximum of eight frames before resuming to a finish over the best of 19 from 7.30pm.

Either Ronnie O’Sullivan or Mark Williams will await the winner in the Semi-Finals on Friday.
