Mark Selby and Ryan Day collide for the last remaining place in the Tour Championship Semi-Finals in Hull on Thursday.

The Jester and Dynamite will do battle over the best of 19 frames at the Bonus Arena, where a last-four showdown with Shaun Murphy awaits the winner.

Having failed to qualify last season, third seed Selby is back in the elite eight-man tournament having already won the English Open and WST Classic this term.

The Leicester cueist arrives in Hull fresh from his Classic triumph on home soil, where he defeated the likes of John Higgins and Ali Carter before seeing off Pang Junxu in the final at the Morningside Arena.

The four-time World champion is now targeting his third Tour Championship semi-final in four appearances as he looks to land his long-awaited maiden silverware in an ITV-televised event.

Although prior to winning the Classic, Selby lost to the eventual champion in his two previous tournaments – going down to Murphy at the Players Championship and Robert Milkins at the Welsh Open.

That will encourage debutant Day, for whom this is a must-win encounter with his top-16 seeding at the Crucible at stake.

Victory for the Welshman would secure his place in the main stages in Sheffield, but defeat would condemn him to two rounds of qualifying matches at the English Institute of Sport.

The form book does not necessarily favour the British Open champion, whose run to the Players Championship quarter-finals last month represents his only venture beyond the last 16 of any ranking event since.

Dynamite has also suffered first-round exits in three of his last four tournaments, though he did overcome Selby in the 2021 Snooker Shootout final – and what was their most recent encounter.

Play gets underway at 1pm BST on Thursday with the opening eight frames, while a maximum of ten will commence from 7pm at the Bonus Arena in Hull.
