Kyren Wilson and Luca Brecel do battle for a place in the UK Championship final at the York Barbican Centre on Saturday.
Both players are making their first appearance in the last four of snooker’s second-most prestigious ranking event, and there is set to be a new name on the trophy this year.
World number five Wilson is the highest-ranked player remaining in the competition.
The Warrior demonstrated his battling qualities with a hard-earned 6-5 victory over Ronnie O’Sullivan in the quarter-finals; producing a wonderful break of 102 in the deciding frame.
As a result, he is appearing in his second successive semi-final, having also reached this stage of the Champion of Champions last month.
A beaten finalist in the World Championship and Masters, the 29-year-old will hope this is the week he gets his hands on that maiden Triple Crown title.
Standing in his way is Brecel, with whom he has shared the six previous meetings but won the most recent two.
The first Belgian to reach a Triple Crown semi-final, he has certainly done it in style.
The world number 40 dropped only three frames during his victories over Stephen Maguire (6-0), Anthony Hamilton (6-1) and Anthony McGill (6-2).
Just two more wins away from glory, the silverware is not the only motivation for the Bullet to go all the way at the Barbican.
Indeed, he would also climb into the world’s top 16 by lifting the trophy and subsequently qualifying for next month’s Masters.
The winner will take on either Barry Hawkins or Zhao Xintong in Sunday’s final.
Play gets underway at 1pm GMT on Saturday with the best of 11 frames determining who will progress to the 2021 UK Championship final at the York Barbican.
