Mark Selby resumes his quest to complete a hat-trick of UK Championship titles against Hossein Vafaei in the second round on Sunday.

The world number one headlines the action as the last 64 draws to a conclusion at the York Barbican Centre.

Two-time champion Selby lifted this trophy in 2012 and 2016, and is now aiming to become only the seventh player to do so on three occasions.

The Jester is yet to truly kick-start his 2021-22 season; his best performance so far seeing him reach the Champion of Champions group final earlier this month.

And the World champion will not be taking any chances against Iran’s Vafaei, who whitewashed Ronnie O’Sullivan in qualifying for the German Masters a few weeks ago.

Elsewhere, Champion of Champions winner Judd Trump looks to build on his momentum and go one better than last year, having narrowly lost 10-9 to Neil Robertson in the final.

The world number two, who won this title in 2011, takes on Chris Wakelin, while three-time champion Ding Junhui faces Sam Craigie.

Two-time winner Mark Williams goes up against veteran Anthony Hamilton, as another former champion in 2004 victor Stephen Maguire plays Tian Pengfei.

The other two top-16 players in action are Stuart Bingham and Anthony McGill, who clash with Stuart Carrington and 2015 semi-finalist David Grace respectively.

Meanwhile, there are several players on the fringes of the top 16 targeting a deep run at the event that could see them sneak into the elite bracket ahead of the Masters.

Among them are Zhou Yuelong and Graeme Dott, who play Ashley Hugill and Jimmy Robertson respectively, while Martin Gould takes on Cao Yupeng.

Two-time semi-finalist Ricky Walden locks horns with Li Hang while Tom Ford, who reached the last four in 2018, faces Luca Brecel.

Play gets underway at 1pm GMT on Sunday with all matches contested over the best of 11 frames at the York Barbican Centre.
