Ronnie O’Sullivan has pulled out of the 2025 Welsh Open on the eve of his first-round clash with Jamie Clarke on Tuesday.

The Rocket was due to face the Welshman at Venue Cymru in Llandudno, but his opponent has subsequently received a bye into round two.

O’Sullivan, who is a four-time Welsh Open champion, has now withdrawn from seven tournaments this season, including last month’s Masters and German Masters due to “medical reasons”.

The 49-year-old’s last competitive action came at the Championship League in Leicester at the start of the year.

Although, that ended prematurely, too, with O’Sullivan pulling out after smashing his cue having lost three of his four matches.
