Wilson is the reigning champion in Llandudno

The Welsh Open provides the next stop on the hectic WST schedule this week, and you can follow the latest results and schedule of play here.

Venue Cymru in Llandudno plays host to the final event of this season’s Home Nations Series, which will be played from February 10-16.

The third longest-running ranking tournament on the calendar will see 64 of the world’s best players do battle for the top prize of £100,000.

The winner will also lift the Ray Reardon trophy in what is the first staging of the event since the six-time World champion’s passing last July at the age of 91.

All players ranked outside the world’s top 32 were required to win at least one qualifying-round match in Barnsley last month to book their place at the main venue.

Gary Wilson was the reigning champion after beating Martin O’Donnell 9-4 in the 2024 final, but his title defence fell at the first hurdle following a surprise 4-3 defeat by Ishpreet Singh Chadha.

Nevertheless, there are 12 other former winners still in this year’s field. They include the most successful player in Welsh Open history in five-time champion John Higgins, along with two-time winners Mark Williams and Neil Robertson.

Mark Selby, Ali Carter, Ding Junhui, Stephen Maguire, Stuart Bingham, Shaun Murphy, Jordan Brown and Robert Milkins are the other players on the roll of honour involved this week.

World champion Kyren Wilson and Mark Allen are among the big-hitters eager to join that list, while there is a strong Welsh contingent to look out for.

Crucible finalist Jak Jones, Ryan Day, Jackson Page and Jamie Jones are among those looking to delight their home crowd, along with Matthew Stevens, Liam Davies, Jamie Clarke and Dylan Emery.

Matches up to and including the last 16 are to be contested over the best of seven frames, with quarter-finals the best of nine, semi-finals best of 11 and final best of 17.
