Ronnie O’Sullivan headlines the third day of action at the World Grand Prix as he takes on veteran Andy Hicks in Coventry.

The Rocket is an ever-present at this elite event, lifting the trophy three years ago following a commanding 10-3 victory over Ding Junhui in the final.

He also reached the showpiece of the inaugural event in 2015, losing 10-7 to an inspired Judd Trump.

Still seeking his first silverware since capturing that sixth World title 16 months ago, O’Sullivan arrives at the Coventry Building Society Arena having reached the Scottish Open semi-finals last week.

The 37-time ranking event winner goes up against UK Championship quarter-finalist Hicks 29 years after their first-ever meeting.

Elsewhere, the second round commences with reigning champion Judd Trump taking on Tom Ford, who produced the highest break of the tournament so far courtesy of a stunning 130 total clearance in his 4-2 win over John Higgins.

Another tasty clash produces a battle of the Marks, with Selby and Allen vying for a place in the quarter-finals.

Although the Pistol has never progressed beyond the second round of this tournament, he has prevailed in all three meetings between the players in ITV televised events – most recently enjoying a thumping 9-2 victory in the Tour Championship semi-finals.

Masters champion Yan Bingtao is also seeking a maiden World Grand Prix quarter-final; he takes on Martin Gould, who defeated newly crowned UK Championship winner Zhao Xintong in round one.

Neil Robertson faces Anthony Hamilton, who overcame Kyren Wilson in a deciding frame on Monday, while Scottish Open champion and UK finalist Luca Brecel looks to continue his impressive form against Welsh Open winner Jordan Brown.

Elsewhere, British Open runner-up Gary Wilson takes on Hossein Vafaei, who has defeated O’Sullivan and Selby this season, as Jimmy Robertson locks horns with Matthew Selt.

Play gets underway at 1pm GMT on Wednesday with all matches contested over the best of seven frames at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
