Ronnie O’Sullivan goes head to head with Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in what promises to be a quickfire 2026 World Open final on Sunday.

It is battle between the Rocket and the Thai Rocket for the right to be crowned champion at Yushan Sport Centre, and pocket the top prize of £175,000.

O’Sullivan is eyeing his record-extending 42nd ranking title – and first since lifting the 2024 World Grand Prix 26 months ago – while Un-Nooh could win only his second career ranking silverware.

The pair famously contested the quickest ever best-of-19 match at the Crucible six years ago – with O’Sullivan running out a comprehensive 10-1 winner after just 108 minutes of play – and we can expect a similarly rapid clash here.

O’Sullivan has enjoyed a memorable week in Yushan, compiling the highest break in snooker history courtesy of his wonderful 16-red clearance of 153 during his quarter-final whitewash of Ryan Day.

The Rocket was then involved in an epic semi-final showdown with Wu Yize – the player he recently identified as a modern-day Steve Davis – producing an 89 counter clearance from 43-0 down in the decider to prevail a narrow 6-5 winner.

That booked his place in a 66th career ranking final, setting him up nicely before his latest crack at a record-breaking eighth Crucible title next month.

Un-Nooh, meanwhile, is set for his third ranking final appearance – two of which have now come at this event, with the Thai runner-up to Judd Trump in 2019.

However, he managed to avenge that defeat almost seven years later following a dramatic ending to their semi-final clash on Saturday.

Un-Nooh, who had compiled three centuries, looked set to steal the 10th frame at 5-4 up, only to miss a routine pink off the spot. Yet, he made amends by sinking a more difficult long-range black to scrape over the line.

The world number 39 dropped just five frames in his previous four matches and, not only would victory in the final land him silverware, but he will snatch the last remaining place in the 12-man Tour Championship.

It all comes down to the best of 19 frames to determine who will lift the trophy on Sunday at Yushan Sport Centre where, if you blink, there is every chance you will miss the contest between two of snooker’s fastest players.

The match breaks off at 6am GMT (2pm local time) with the opening eight frames, before playing to a conclusion from 11.30am (7.30pm local time).
