Judd Trump v Mark Williams live stream | World Championship Semi-Final preview
Former World Champions Judd Trump and Mark Williams face off in a mouth-watering three-day Semi-Final at The Crucible.
Two of snooker’s all-time great left-handers meet in the sport’s show-piece event for the first time as they vie to remain on course to lift the ultimate prize.
The hallowed one-table setup awaits the decorated duo in Sheffield, with both no strangers to this occasion, having racked up 12 Semi-Final appearances between them.
Veteran campaigner Williams, who made his Crucible debut 25 years ago, is into his seventh World Championship Semi-Final and forms one third of the ‘Class of 92’ that remains in contention for glory.
The Welshman produced one of the stand-out performances of the First Round to thrash Michael White 10-3 with the aid of four centuries.
He then added a further six centuries on his way to a 13-3 demolition of his young protégé Jackson Page with a session to spare in the Last 16, before battling his way to a 13-11 victory over 2021 Masters Champion Yan Bingtao.
Williams began the season by winning the British Open last August for his 24th career ranking title, and was beaten in the final of the Shoot Out earlier this year.
Semi-finalist at The Masters, the world number eight was involved in one of the matches of the season against Ronnie O’Sullivan at the recent Tour Championship – losing out 10-9 in the Quarter-Finals.
At 47, Williams is the oldest player to reach the Semi-Finals here since Ray Reardon – who lost to Steve Davis in 1985 at the age of 52.
Trump, meanwhile, finds himself in a fifth Crucible Semi-Final since his breakthrough run to the final in 2011 and is aiming to join the elite group of 13 multiple World Champions.
Winner of the Champion of Champions and Turkish Masters this season, Trump began his run by overcoming Iranian debutant Hossein Vafaei and 2020 semi-finalist Anthony McGill despite being below his best for the most part.
He then produced an inspired comeback from 8-5 down with eight consecutive frames to defeat 2015 World Champion Stuart Bingham in the Quarter-Finals.
The 2019 World Champion has only four centuries to his name so far, eight fewer than Williams, and will be determined to recapture his trademark scoring form over this marathon four-session format.
Trump has won ten of his 16 previous meetings with Williams since 2008, but incredibly, this will be their first encounter in a Triple Crown event.
The match gets under way from 1pm BST on Thursday April 28 for a maximum of eight frames, resuming from 10am and 7pm on Friday before being played to a finish over the best of 33 from 2.30pm on Saturday.
Either six-time World Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan or four-time World Champion John Higgins will await the winner in the final.
