Neil Robertson is one of three former Crucible kings on display at the 2022 World Championship on Easter Monday.

Mark Williams and Stuart Bingham are also in action on what promises to be another day of high-quality snooker in Sheffield.

Robertson is a red-hot favourite to claim his second Crucible crown after a magnificent season that has seen him land four trophies for the first time in his career.

The Thunder triumphed at the English Open back in November, while he has also added the Masters, Players Championship and Tour Championship since the turn of the year.

Yet, the Australian’s Crucible record is fairly modest by his standards. An ever-present since 2005, the 2010 champion has only reached the one-table setup on two occasions.

The world number three, who has reached three successive quarter-finals, launches his latest quest to become the first multiple overseas winner of snooker’s blue-riband event against debutant Ashley Hugill.

Elsewhere, Williams resumes with a commanding 7-2 advantage over compatriot Michael White, who is making his first Crucible appearance since 2016.

The three-time champion was in free-scoring form on Sunday; hitting a hat-trick of centuries, but his opponent did win the final two frames of the opening session give himself a glimmer of hope.

World number 13 Anthony McGill also boasts a healthy lead; the 2020 semi-finalist resumes at 6-3 to the good against Liam Highfield.

Bingham – champion here in 2015 – begins his campaign against Chinese qualifier Lyu Haotian, and is aiming to go the extra couple of steps this year having narrowly lost 17-15 to Mark Selby in the semi-finals 12 months ago.

Meanwhile, Mark Allen commences his 16th successive Crucible appearance – and 14th as a seed – against former Championship League winner Scott Donaldson.

The Pistol, who reached the last four in 2009, is looking to improve on his recent record in Sheffield, where he has tasted victory just once in the last three years.

Play gets underway at 10am BST on Monday with all matches contested over the best of 19 frames at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
