Kyren Wilson looks to continue his strong start at the Wuhan Open when he faces Xiao Guodong in the last 32 on Tuesday.

Reigning Crucible king Wilson and defending champion Judd Trump headline the action on day three at the China Optics Valley Convention & Exhibition Center (COVCEC), where John Higgins and home favourite Ding Junhui will also be on display.

Wilson has hit the ground running in Wuhan, where he is aiming to continue his record of having reached the last 16 at every conventional event he has entered this season.

The Warrior, who won the inaugural Xi’an Grand Prix in August, has been in fine form so far this week, dropping just a single frame across his victories over Liam Davies and Aaron Hill, while compiling three centuries and a further six breaks over 50.

He will look to built on that momentum against two-time ranking finalist Xiao, while Trump’s title defence resumes with a tricky clash against Anthony McGill.

After hitting three centuries in his 5-0 whitewash of Xu Si, Ding will be hoping to delight his home crowd once again with more of the same against another Chinese opponent in Yuan Sijun.

Higgins, who came from 4-2 down against Fan Zhengyi, will want to be quicker out of the blocks against Zak Surety, as Shaun Murphy and Ali Carter face tricky tests in Noppon Saengkham and Marco Fu respectively.

More tasty ties pit reigning International Championship winner Zhang Anda against Hossein Vafaei, and Crucible finalist Jak Jones against Jack Lisowski, with Barry Hawkins aiming to avoid falling victim to rising star Stan Moody.

Home favourite Si Jiahui plays Welsh Open finalist Martin O’Donnell, while English Open runner-up Wu Yize takes on Jamie Clarke.

Jackson Page also faces a local opponent in Long Zehuang, who beat Mark Selby to qualify, as Chris Wakelin and Ben Woollaston lock horns with David Lilley and Elliot Slessor respectively.

The other two ties see former WST Classic runner-up Pang Junxu play Duane Jones, and Robbie Williams go up against Mark Joyce.

Play gets under way at 7am BST (2pm local time) on Tuesday with all matches contested over the best of nine frames at the COVCEC.
