Ronnie O’Sullivan looks to build on his strong start to the Wuhan Open when he locks horns with Pang Junxu in the last 32.

The Rocket has dropped just two frames in as many matches so far this week, as he seeks his second Chinese silverware in the space of four weeks.

O’Sullivan, who maintained his Shanghai Masters defence last week, recovered from losing the opening frame by reeling off the next five as he saw off 1997 World champion Ken Doherty.

The seven-time Crucible king then controlled his second-round clash with Mark Davis, hitting breaks of 101, 69 and 62 on the way to another 5-1 victory.

Next up for O’Sullivan is a player he met in Sheffield six months ago.

The world number one launched his World title defence against Pang and ran out a 10-7 winner, although the Crucible debutant did demonstrate glimpses of quality as he recovered from 5-1 down to only trail 9-7.

Pang will know he needs to be quicker out of the blocks to stand any chance of claiming a scalp this time around.

Runner-up to Mark Selby at the WST Classic last season, the world number 35 has endured a steady start to this term and this run represents his best performance so far.

After beating teenage sensation Stan Moody in qualifying, Pang looked sharp against Stuart Carrington with breaks of 135 and 104 on the way to a 5-3 win.

The winner of this match will play Yuan SiJun in the Last 16 of the Wuhan Open.

Play gets under way at 12.30pm BST on Wednesday and will be contested over the best of nine frames at Wuhan Gymnasium.
