Mark Allen and Jimmy White collide in the opening match of the 2023 Champion of Champions in Bolton on Monday.

The reigning UK Champion and World Seniors champion face off in the first Group Four Semi-Final at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Allen is vying for a second Champion of Champions crown, having lifted the trophy behind closed doors in 2020 and finished runner-up in 2015.

After a sensational 2022 which saw him pick up three ranking titles, ‘The Pistol’ has struggled by his own high standards this season, with a run to the Last Eight of the Wuhan Open marking his best performance.

Allen has progressed to the group final in five of his last six Champion of Champions appearances and will look to recapture his best form going into his UK Championship title defence later in the month.

White is back for a third Champion of Champions appearance since 2018 and is vying for his first win in this prestigious invitational.

The Whirlwind began the season with nine consecutive defeats before finally stopping the rot with an impressive 4-3 win over Duane Jones in the qualifying round of the Scottish Open.

The 61-year-old has lost four of his five previous encounters with Allen dating back to 2006, including a 6-3 defeat in the 2019 UK Championship.

The match gets under way from 1pm GMT and will be contested over the best of seven frames, with either Mark Selby or Ali Carter awaiting the winner in tonight’s group final.
