Neil Robertson begins his latest quest to complete a hat-trick of Champion of Champions titles against Mark Williams on Tuesday.

The two-time champion headlines the second day of action at the Bolton Whites Hotel, with Kyren Wilson and Jordan Brown also featuring in Group Four.

Robertson is one of only two multiple winners of the popular invitational event along with Ronnie O’Sullivan, who boasts three titles.

The Thunder, who lifted the trophy in 2015 and 2019, will move level with the Rocket should he go all the way this week.

Also runner-up to an inspired Mark Allen last year, the 2010 World champion arrives in Bolton in fine fettle, having landed the English Open title last time out following a narrow 9-8 victory over John Higgins in the final.

The first obstacle he must overcome is British Open winner Williams, who has endured a stop-start season following a battle with gout and testing positive for COVID-19.

The three-time World champion is making only his second appearance at this event having also qualified in 2018, and will be targeting his first such victory.

Elsewhere Wilson – runner-up to O’Sullivan three years ago – starts his latest mission to go the extra step against debutant Brown.

Making his fifth appearance in the event, the Warrior has reached the final day of the Championship League this season, as well as the English Open quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Welsh Open champion Brown is looking to put a tricky start to the campaign behind him; the world number 33 falling at the first hurdle of the Championship League, Northern Ireland Open and English Open.

Play gets underway at 1pm GMT on Tuesday with both group semi-finals contested over the best of seven frames at the Bolton Whites Hotel.

The winners will advance to the group final, which begins at 7pm with the best of 11 frames determining who will progress to the semi-finals of the tournament.
